I'm not sure why everyone has had the problems stated. Like most presses that are glass, you must take some care in how you use this. I use it mainly for cold brew (12 scoops of coarse ground coffee, fill to within an inch of the top an let set for at least 24 hrs.) I use the provided lid while cold steeping in the fridge. Then make sure to align the plunger lid with the notches and SLOWLY press down with even pressure. I usually serve right out of this as there is a thumb release and spout. When removing the plunger, pull with even SLOW force up till you reach the top. Gently wiggle back and forth with lid released until the plunger comes free. Simple, but use your brain, not brawn.

I ordered this after hearing about a way to make iced coffee using cold water, however, that particular method was more work than I wanted to put into it. So, I searched iced coffee makers, and found this. It came super fast, and I made my first batch right away. I let it "brew" in the fridge for 12 hours. I then took a tall glass, added caramel syrup and half and half and poured chilled coffee over it until 3/4 of my cup was full, stirred and filled with ice. The coffee did have a slight taste of tea, which I wasn't sure if it was the coffee I used or the amount of time I let it brew. So, my next glass came from the same batch (still sitting in the beaker with the coffee grounds at the bottom)the next day, and I could tell that I did indeed get a better taste the longer it sat. The next batch I made, I left it on the counter for 8 hours, then put in the fridge for 12 hours, and even then, I felt I could've let it brew a little longer. Next time, I'm going to use a stronger coffee and let brew for 12 hours on counter, then 12 hours in fridge, and I feel confident I will have the most delicious tasting iced coffee! Regardless, even after a short brew, the weaker coffee taste is worth the money saved!

I have saved so much money (and plastic cups, too) by brewing my own iced coffee in this thing. It's so easy and the coffee is smooth and delicious. Definitely recommend to any iced coffee drinker.
